Course Outline
Before the course begins you will be required to submit three specific drawings. Once enrolled in the course you will be given the instructions and submit the drawings to Amy Jane van den Bergh.
Session 1
Understand the theory and physiology of left and right brain functionalities and how these pertain to artists.
- Review the theory outlined in Drawing on the Right side of the Brain
- Group reflection session and discussion.
Session 2
Exploring drawing exercises that enable the Left or Right brain switch.
- Do a number of drawing exercises to feel the sensation of moving from L – R brain.
- Group reflection session and discussion.
Session 3
A focus on edges, contours, negative space and perspective.
- Step by step exercises to improve your drawings by using edges, contours, negative space and perspective.
- Group reflection session and discussion.
Session 4
A focus on Portrait drawing, light, shadow and colour.
- Step by step exercises to improve your drawings by using light, shadow and colour.
- Group reflection session and discussion.
Expectations and Responsibilities
- Participation in all four sessions
- Completion of pre-course assignment
